



Islamabad, 24th January, 2025 – Sharī‘ah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad has successfully concluded 66th Regular Shariah course, a four-month-long comprehensive program that included 20 judges, Qazis, attorneys, prosecutors, and law officers from across Pakistan. The course aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of Islamic law and its application within the judicial framework.
The course consisted of 14 weeks of intensive classes, study visits in Islamabad, as well as inland study tours to Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. In addition, an international study tour was organized to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Türkiye providing participants with valuable insights into the judicial systems of these countries.
The closing ceremony, held on Friday, 24th January 2025, was attended by distinguished guests and faculty members of the Academy. Dr. Muhammad Motiur Rehman, Senior Researcher at the Federal Shariat Court, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Dr. Ataullah Faizi, Director-General of the Sharī‘ah Academy, chaired the ceremony, which also saw the participation of Dr. Shams ul Haq, Chairman of the Department of Training, and Dr. Abbul Hameed, Lecturer and Course Coordinator.
Hon. Justice Dr. Justice Syed Muhammad Anwer, Judge, Federal Shariat Court was invited as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Muhammad Motiur Rehman, Senior Researcher, Federal Shariat Court was invited as the Guest of Honour. In his address, he emphasized the importance of such courses in enhancing legal knowledge within the judicial community, particularly regarding the significance of Sharī‘ah in the administration of justice. Dr. Muhammad Motiur Rehman also highlighted the necessity for the legal fraternity to deepen their understanding of Islamic Jurisprudence to ensure effective and just legal proceedings.
Prof. Dr. Ataullah Faizi, in his speech, stressed the importance of Sharī‘ah in the effective role of judges and urged them to adhere to Islamic judicial ethics alongside piety and honesty. He also expressed his gratitude to Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Rector (IIUI)/ Chairman (HEC), and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, President (IIUI), for their continuous support and supervision of the program.
Mr. Dost Muhammad Khan, Group Representative, along with other participants, acknowledged the value of the course in promoting awareness of Islamic law and jurisprudence within the judicial and legal communities of Pakistan. He commended the Sharī‘ah Academy for providing a robust academic environment and offering highly qualified resource persons throughout the course. The participants particularly appreciated the opportunity provided by the international study tour, which facilitated learning from the judicial systems of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and commemorative shields to the participants, marking the successful completion of the 66th Regular Shariah Course.
