The 66th regular Shariah course for Judges, Qazis, Attorneys, Prosecutors, and Law Officers has commenced on Wednesday being organized by the Sharī‘ah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad. The 16 weeklong course is an iconic course of the academy since 1981.
The Director General Sharī‘ah Academy Prof. Dr. Ataullah Faizi welcomed the participants of the course. He also briefed them about the objectives of the course. He said that the course offers a comparative examination of Islamic and Western legal concepts and their approaches to addressing human issues. He further elaborated that the course will significantly focus on modern legal concepts, particularly the doctrine of Ijtihad and its evolving role in contemporary Muslim societies.
Dr Sham ul Haq, I/C Dept of Training briefed about the curriculum as it is designed to provide comprehensive lectures on a wide array of topics. He further said that these include the concept of justice within the practical frameworks of Usul al-Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) and Maqasid al-Sharī‘ah (the objectives of Shariah), explored through civil, criminal, constitutional, international, and transactional lenses. Dr Abdul Hameed course coordinator also interacted with the participants and apprised them about the scheduling and detail of the course as well.
The 66th course is being attended by 24 distinguished participants, including District and Session Judges, Qazis, Attorneys, Prosecutors, and Law Officers from across Pakistan.
