








The Shariah Academy, International Islamic University (IIU) recently concluded a Law Orientation Course, with over 50 participants, including Ulama and Madrassah graduates. The course was designed to bridge the gap between religious scholarship and modern legal systems, equipping participants with foundational knowledge in various areas of law.
The five-day course covered essential topics such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Procedural Law, Legal Concepts, the Law-Making Process, and International Law.
The course was enriched by the insights of prominent speakers, including Dr. Moti Ur Rehman, Senior Research Advisor at the Federal Shariat Court; Dr. Ikram Ul Haq, Secretary of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Mansoori, Former VP (A&F), IIUI; Dr. Abdullah Omar Balbead, Head of the Department of Law at IIU; Dr. Abdul Karim Usman; Dr. Habibur Rehman; Dr. Azhar Qayyum; Dr. Saqib Jawwad; Dr. Shamsul Haq; Dr. Abdul Hameed; Mr. Atiq Ur Rehman; Mr. Atiq Ahmad; and Hafiz Ahmad Waqas.
In addition to the lectures, participants were given the opportunity to visit the Federal Shariat Court, where they gained firsthand insights into the court’s judicial processes and functions.
During the concluding session, Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, the Chief Guest, addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and Madrassahs. He stressed that these institutions should complement one another rather than compete, in order to foster a stronger and more knowledgeable society.
Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director-General, Sharī‘ah Academy, delivered the final remarks, thanking the participants for their active involvement throughout the course. Dr. Akram expressed his hope that the course had achieved its objectives and reassured the participants that the doors of the Shariah Academy remain open to all Ulama, encouraging them to continue their pursuit of knowledge and professional development.
This successful initiative highlights the International Islamic University’s commitment to advancing academic excellence and promoting legal awareness within the context of Islamic scholarship.
